I have a number of vintage computers in a collection spanning the 1980s to the present. Initially including primarily Apple computers, but recently I have been acquiring other brands from the 80’s.
My first bought computer was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K in January 1985. I had worked all Summer in the Army kitchens of Waiouru to save up for the $400+ computer. With two friends, I took a bus to Levin and purchased the Speccy. However, I didn’t have enough money for the required cassette tape drive, until one of my friends offered to buy it for me. My other friend and I spent many hours typing in programmes from magazines and renting games to play.
My current catalogue of vintage computers (non-Apple) now include:
- Sinclair ZX81
- Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K (my original plus another)
- Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2 (made by Amstrad)
- Amstrad CPC 464
- Amstrad CPC 6128
- Atari 520STFM
- Atari 800XL
- Commodore 64C
- Commodore Amiga 500
- BBC Master 128
- Acorn Electron
- Acorn Archimedes 3010 & 3020
